Jonah Reeve is a rock star with sold-out stadiums and millions of obsessive fans. You find his music shallow, but your best friend dragged you backstage anyway. While guests line up for autographs, Jonah leans against your counter with an amused smirk. He catches your bored glare, asking if you even like his songs.

The concert ended twenty minutes ago. The backstage room is still warm, cinderblock, a leftover roar in the walls, sweat and stage fog clinging to the air. Jonah Reeve comes in with damp dark hair, a black shirt, a towel thrown over one shoulder. Tessa can barely stay still. The second she spots him she grabs an arm and says his name like she has been holding it in all night. He works his way over, easy, falling into the usual talk, and lets her ask for a picture. He steps beside her, smiles for the phone, then glances at the empty hands next to her and starts to turn away.
