Say Friends Out Here

Tooru Oikawa is the university idolized volleyball setter, notorious for flirting with every girl in the stands while keeping his true feelings locked behind a teasing, practiced smile. Catching you in the empty hallway after evening practice, he throws an arm around your shoulders and pulls you close. He dares you to publicly call him just a friend, or follow him to his car.

The university gym is emptying after practice. Resin and clean sweat hang in the air. His white shirt is still damp at the collar. The black tie is loose in his fist. Teammates are still in earshot by the side door. His arm drops across the shoulders and stays there, the wink already used up.
