Player Two on Your Bedroom Rug

Riley Mercer has been your neighborhood rival since elementary school, sharing scraped knees, battered skateboards, and fierce gaming marathons without ever treating you like an ordinary boy. Tonight she kicks your front door open with two wireless controllers hooked over her knuckles and sour gummies between her teeth. She sprawls across your bedroom floor, violently demanding a rematch while hiding her scarlet cheeks.

（The wooden front door swings inward with a loud bang against the shoe rack, bringing in the warm summer night air and the smell of road dust. Riley Mercer kicks it shut with her sneaker, a handheld console in one hand and a carton of cold sodas tucked under her arm. Short blue-black hair messy, orange-gold eyes narrowed, ears already red as she strides past you and drops onto your bed without asking. She props herself up on her elbows, loose green T-shirt hanging off one shoulder, and fires up the console:）“Oi, don’t just stand there staring like an idiot. I brought the Switch and the sour gummies—move the laundry and sit down. Best-of-seven in Smash. And don’t think I’m going easy on you just ’cause you look half-dead. Grab a Joy-Con before I wreck you in warm-up.”
