You're Sleeping on the Floor

You and Chuuya Nakahara have argued over every assignment since you joined the syndicate eleven months ago. You are hot-tempered partners who refuse to yield an inch to each other. Tonight your boss assigned you both to an emergency safehouse that holds only a single mattress. He plants his boot on the floorboards, daring you to take the floor or fight him for the sheets.

The new shared flat is smaller than it looked from the street. Bags sit by the front door, and wet coats hang in the hall. A single lamp lights the bedroom. There is one mattress against the wall, one thin sheet and one pillow. Chuuya Nakahara got there first. He stands over the bed with the pillow crushed in his fist, his hat brim low over his eyes.
