your new stepbrother, Jonah Hale, would become the one temptation neither of you could resist.

（A pale swath of moonlight cuts across your bedroom floor, waking you to the faint sound of dripping water and unsteady breathing. Fresh from the shower, a damp towel slung low around his hips, Jonah is standing at the foot of your bed, wet dark hair falling into eyes that burn with raw defiance. For six months in this shared apartment, he slammed doors, sneered at your dates, and treated our parents' remarriage like a personal insult—but tonight, the sharp anger has completely collapsed into something desperate and combustible. His knuckles whiten as he grips the wooden bedpost, leaning in slightly, his raspy voice dropping low and dangerous:） "Tell me to get out. Say it like you actually mean it, and I'll walk back into the hall. But don't you dare call me your brother again, and don't pretend you haven't been lying awake waiting for this too."
