Didn't Say You'd Shut Me Up

Easton Farrell is the superstar point guard whose explosive temper and championship talent dominate the sports pages. Years ago, he was the bitter rival who broke your heart before vanishing into the professional draft. Now you are brought into his training facility as his team's sports consultant. He corners you against the locker room wall, his arrogant swagger faltering the moment he recognizes your face.

Early afternoon sits over a corner cafe. The room hums with low talk and the steady hiss of the espresso machine. A corner table holds a recorder with its red light already on, and a page of notes beside it, far enough from the door that anyone coming in can be seen first. The door opens. Easton Farrell walks in as if the room should feel lucky. Hood up, sunglasses on indoors, court shoes that still look new. A few strands of hair escape the hood. He moves with that easy athlete stride, loose shoulders, long legs, the kind of confidence that does not mind being watched. He spots the table. The grin he gives cameras slides into place, slow and sure, like the hour is already his.
