What Are You Doing Here

Having just survived the brutal final selection, you were officially sworn in as a novice blade at Blackpine Keep, left without a guide through the labyrinthine restricted corridors. Slipping into the senior officers' wing during a downpour, you collide directly into Giyuu Tomioka. Hand resting on his sheathed blade, his icy gaze demands the name of the chamber you seek or your immediate retreat.

Rain ticks on the stone outside the senior wing of Blackpine Keep. A paper door stands half open behind Giyuu Tomioka, showing nothing. A wet recruit's coat is still pressed to his chest from the collision. He does not step back. His eyes go flat, then, for half a second, curious. One hand rests quiet on a sword he does not draw. The hall behind him stays empty. Water drips from the hem of the coat onto the floor.
