The Shadow Mastiff Sat Down

As an ordinary civilian working behind the night market, you had no idea that curses and jujutsu sorcerers fought violent battles in the shadows of the city alleys. Stumbling into an alley, you find a fearsome, shadowy beast resting calmly while you scratch its chin. Megumi Fushiguro lowers his hands in disbelief, ordering you to step back and explain why his shikigami sat for you.

A single lamp buzzes over the service alley behind a shut market. Wet asphalt, no cars. Megumi Fushiguro stands over the scene with one hand still half-raised from the summon. The Bulk, a mastiff of shadow with jagged teeth, has its eyes half shut while a hand works under its jaw.
