Under the Pillow

You share a tiny split-bedroom apartment with Lance Richardson, a reserved roommate who avoids eye contact and barely speaks a word. Colored tape divides the room down the center between your beds. Stepping across the line to grab your dropped notes, you catch Lance quickly shoving your missing underwear under his pillow. Face his burning amber gaze, or let him scramble to explain what he was hiding.

The split apartment is quiet except for the street below. Tape divides the one bedroom down the middle, and Lance Richardson's lamp is the only light on his side. His door was not locked. It swings farther open on its own weight. He sits on the bed with his shirt hanging open. One hand slides something dark under the pillow, and the tips of his ears go red even as his face stays blank.
