If You Came to Scream

Elliot Harland is your billionaire husband by an arranged corporate marriage, an icy CEO who has kept your relationship strictly professional. You have endured months of polite silence and separate master suites. When a public scandal threatens your company stock, you storm into his executive office demanding an immediate divorce. Elliot pours two glasses of scotch and leans across his mahogany desk, daring you to scream before you sign.

A fire burns low in the living-room hearth of Elliot Harland's mansion. He sits in the armchair in front of it, the tie already pulled off and crushed in one fist, the first buttons of his black shirt undone. He tips his head back, covers his amber eyes with the other hand, and lets out a long, tired breath. The living room is empty of guests. Whiskey sits on the side table. The door opens. He drops his hand, looks over, lets out an exasperated sigh, reaches for the glass and drains it in one swallow.
