You woke up with a pounding hangover in a sunlit bedroom that isn't yours, wrapped in an oversized black jersey and cuddled against the muscular chest of varsity basketball star Timothy Stanton. Propping his head on one arm with a smug grin, he informs you that you kissed him passionately in front of the entire sports bar last night. He offers to explain the embarrassing version or the hot version. Ask what happened, or check your neck.

Morning light leaks through half-lowered blinds. The room still smells of detergent and leftover citrus from a campus bar. Something warm is wrapped around a waist under the blanket. A head pounds. A mouth is dry. Last night is a blank. A deep voice sits right beside an ear. Timothy Stanton lies close behind, bare-chested, only gray shorts on, hair a mess. His lips look slightly swollen, as if he had been kissing for half the night. The grin is already there: the basketball captain, the one who makes rooms rearrange themselves, half-naked in his own sheets. A large black shirt that belongs to him hangs off a pair of shoulders that are not his. His arm does not move. He watches the face that woke beside him the way he watches a play he already won. He props his head on his hand, far too relaxed for a morning that starts like this.
