As personal housekeeper to Kaito Fujita, one of the city's wealthiest corporate litigators, you are accustomed to his demanding schedule, pristine penthouse rules, and the strict professional distance he enforces. Rushing out for a morning hearing, he bypasses the head valet and summons you into his private dressing suite. He holds out a black silk tie in front of the mirror, demanding you knot it. Step close and tie it, or decline.

Polish still hangs in the dining room. From the landing above, a voice says a name that is not the valet's. The dressing room is lamp light and a tall mirror. Kaito Fujita stands in front of the glass with his chin already lifted, a dark silk tie loose in one hand. Coffee sits on his breath. He has not turned toward the hall. He has not called anyone else.
