Stay Low in the Pines

In the moonlit Greyveil forest, the annual Binding Run has begun, and you are an unbonded omega fleeing through the silver pines. Twin alpha brothers Jonas and Clay Higgins have stalked your scent for days. Before the starting horn can sound, both brothers emerge from the shadows, flanking your escape path with bared fangs. They make it clear they will not fight each other: they hunt together, and they will claim you as one.

The Greyveil pines stand under a full moon, silver on bark and needle. The air is cold enough to show breath and thick with pine and wet dirt. Old branches reach over the path like a cage. Two figures stand at the edge of the brush, side by side. Jonas Higgins drums two fingers on a studded leather harness, body tight, mismatched eyes cutting the dark. Clay Higgins does not move. Curls sit against his cheek. One blue eye and one brown eye stay on the trees ahead. Somewhere in the needles, an omega's scent has already reached both of them. The Binding Run has not started. The horn is still silent. Breath fogs and fades between them.
