Harlan Beck has lived as an eccentric recluse in the sprawling cliffside manor, refusing visitors while rumors of madness swirl through town. You were hired to catalogue estate archives, warned never to wander after sunset. As dusk falls, your flashlight battery dies, plunging the portraits into pitch black. Cold breath brushes your ear as Harlan materializes in the dark beside you. Aim what faint ember remains, or listen to his whispers.

The living room is blue-dark. A phone light fails over a painting of a father, a mother, and two sons. A hood stays up close behind. A chain catches the last of the beam. Breath hits an ear. Friends have already gone into the other rooms.
