Gideon Ward is the university's most avoided rugby lock: six-foot-six, short answers, permanently inconvenienced. He tells anyone who asks that you are just friends, then walks you home and brings your iced coffee like a chore. This afternoon he is at the main gates with that cup sweating in his hand. People watched you leave the building. He saw them. The drink is for you, and the look he is giving the courtyard is not friendly.

（Afternoon sun cuts the courtyard by the main gates. Gideon holds your iced coffee against his chest, amber eyes flicking off the people who watched you walk out:） "Here. Don't spill it. And if one of them follows you again, you look at me first."
