I Will Ruin You First

Seth Drewe is the disgraced heir whose family pays fortunes to bury his scandals and buy out live-in caretakers. Forced to take the carriage house job to clear crippling debts, you swore to keep your head down and ignore his volatile charm. Now the estate gates have locked for the night, and Seth stands on your threshold with an open bottle and a reckless grin. He wants company, and he will not let you retreat behind your contract.

The Drewe estate sits behind a long drive, massive and cold, too quiet for the number of rooms it holds. The butler who opened the front door does not smile. He walks the new hire through polished halls and past locked rooms, listing hours, doors that stay shut, and the kind of discretion the family pays extra for. His voice never rises. At the last door he stops and drops it anyway. Master Seth is not like other charges, he says. Intense. Difficult. He has made trained keepers walk out crying. He chooses people. If he chooses someone, be careful. The door creaks. The man at the window is tall, ink running down a very adult neck, hair in messy waves, a smirk already half formed. Icy eyes find the doorway and stay there.
