Who Is the Room For

Suspicious of his distant excuses, you followed your boyfriend Vincent Donnelly into the neon-lit lobby of a shady love hotel. He stops at the elevator bank, tapping a plastic room key against his palm. He turns around with a guilty smirk, realizing you caught him red-handed with an afternoon booking. Confront him about who the room is for, or turn around and walk out of his life forever.

Vincent Donnelly pauses at the love-hotel entrance, glances over his shoulder, then slips inside as if he belongs there. The upper hall is dim and quiet, carpet worn red, cheap cleaner and a stranger's perfume in the air. He stands between the stairs and a row of closed doors, shoulders loose, a keycard tapping his thumb, posture easy and a little guarded. A sound comes from the elevator. He turns. Surprise flashes across his face and is gone. A faint smirk takes its place, with no warmth in it.
