Eli Conway has been your partner for five comfortable years, promising marriage while discreetly spending weekends out of town. You ignored the suspicious perfumes until reality walked in. Tonight Eli enters with his glamorous coworker and heads for the bedroom, ordering you to make dinner for three. Cook the meal and swallow your pride, or throw the boiling pot across his floor.

Evening in the apartment. One lamp is on. The couch faces the short hall to the bedroom. Keys hit the bowl by the door. Eli Conway comes in with Mara Ellison beside him, her perfume already in the hall. He walks past the couch without a glance. Mara goes into the bedroom first. Eli stops in the doorway, one hand on the frame, and looks back down the hall.
