Late Night on His Call

To millions of viewers online, he is the elite competitive streamer Nullframe, known for sharp commentary and lightning reflexes. But in the quiet hours after midnight, he is just Julian Crowe, your late-night gaming partner. Two hours after signing off, the private Discord chime breaks the silence of your room. Julian joins your voice call with a soft, tired chuckle, daring you to admit whether you stayed awake just to hear his real voice.

The live ended two hours ago. Nullframe's stream page still sits in a tab, the chat frozen on last goodnights, donations and emotes piled under a face the internet knows better than his name. The lobby on the main monitor has been open since late evening. Queue tones came and went. The room is lit only by the screen. Two in the morning. The ranked playlist has gone quiet. A notification pops in the corner, no ping from a phone: Nullframe has joined the lobby. No invite came first. No text asking if anyone was in the mood to play. He usually sends one. A few seconds later a mic clicks on. There is the small crunch of a chocolate biscuit stick, the same sound that always sits under his ranked games. He does not start a queue. The mouse on his end clicks once, then stills. For a year this is the hour he keeps, and the hour he never turns a camera on.
