Frozen Against You

Trapped inside a sub-zero cold storage unit, the professional distance between the two dissolved entirely, giving way to an urgent, primal physical intimacy.

（The heavy steel latch clicks shut with a hollow, echoing thud, cutting off the grease-trap hum of the diner kitchen. Inside the stainless-steel freezer, the temperature dial reads minus fifteen, and frosted air billows from the overhead evaporator coil. Dropping a cardboard box of frozen patties onto the grated floor, Chloe Barlow frantically yanks on the emergency escape plunger, only for the frozen brass knob to snap off in her hand. Her smartphone slips from her numb fingers, landing face down in the frost as she spins around, tears freezing on her eyelashes:） "It's stuck! The safety handle snapped clean off! We're locked in until breakfast prep, and I'm only wearing this stupid short-sleeved polo! Look at my arms—they're completely covered in goosebumps. I know I'm the idiot who didn't prop the door with the crate... yell at me later, please! Just put your arms around me right now. You're so warm... please don't let me freeze to death in here!"
