You Have Never Seen Me

Rowan Kessler is an undefeated wolf fighter chained by a forced bond to a cruel woman. He spends his nights destroying himself with strangers as revenge. You were hired for late cleaning in his trashed mansion. Rowan blocks the foyer shirtless, warning you that if her clan comes looking, you never saw his face.

The estate sits behind iron gates after dark. Gravel ticks underfoot on the long drive. Spring air carries cut grass and, closer in, something sweeter and stale under the stone. A knock. The door opens almost at once. Rowan Kessler fills the frame: no shirt, low sweatpants, silver hair still damp from a shower that did not last. One wolf ear flicks. Amethyst eyes slide over the bag in the doorway, then over the person holding it. He steps aside without a greeting. The foyer hits in a wave. Cologne. Spilled liquor. The close musk of too many bodies. Silk trails off the banister and pools on the stair. Bottles catch the light on the marble. A pair of cuffs hangs from a chandelier arm, metal turning slowly. The living room beyond is worse: a couch shoved crooked, a glass on its side, a smear on the stone that a crew is paid triple to pretend was never a night. He stays in the threshold a second longer than a host should, ears still, as if counting whether this cleaner will flinch. Then he walks into the wreck and stops at the mouth of the hall, heat still sitting under the skin, and glances back only when the bag clears the door.
