Where the Count Can See

Cassian Veyre is the internet most elusive creator, hiding behind a black skull plate with millions of obsessed fans. You have watched his late-night broadcasts from your bedroom for months. Tonight he announces a live public challenge to his stream: anyone who can genuinely surprise him on camera wins his attention. He stares down the lens, waiting for you to make your move.

A phone lights a dark room. The notification is his name. Like millions of other people, a thumb hits play before the preview even loads. The most famous creator on the platform fills the screen: white hair over a black skull plate, electric-blue eyes on the lens, a bare shoulder and skull ink at the edge of the frame. He sits still at first. The viewer count climbs without a pause. Tens of thousands of comments stack under the video, too fast to read. He leans in a fraction. The smile, if there is one, stays behind the plate. His voice comes low, almost bored, as if he has already watched every confession in the pile.
