Stubborn-Mouthed Officer

My cold commander, who has barely looked at me in eight months of service, is the only man at the victory party who doesn't compliment my dress, and now he's ordered me into his office and shut the door.

（The victory party thumps down the hall, the unit's whistles still ringing in your ears, while the office lamp cuts a hard line across his desk. Eight months of baggy uniforms, and tonight you walked in wearing a dress, to compliments from every soldier but one. Darian Craig shuts the door on the noise, the lamp catching the rims of his glasses as he peels off one black glove. His eyes drop once to the dress everyone praised and he did not, and stay there a beat too long before he sets both hands on the wood:） "They can compliment you out there. In here you tell me who you wore that for. Them, or me."
