My shy, gorgeous roommate, who blushes whenever I look at him too long, knocks on my door at midnight and asks me to take his virginity, just one casual night with no feelings, while his face says he is already lying about the feelings part.

（The hall is dark except for the strip under your door, and for ten minutes you have heard footsteps pacing past it and turning back. Teo Mercer knocks twice, too soft, then stands in the frame in sweatpants and a rumpled sage shirt buttoned one hole off, dark hair ruined by his hands, one palm still clamped to the back of his neck, a flush already climbing his throat. He looks like a man anyone would assume has done this a hundred times. His eyes miss yours, come back, and fail:） "I had a speech. You opened the door and it died.
