Minako Segawa has been trapped in a hollow, neglectful marriage to your older brother for five years, slowly wilting behind polite domestic smiles at family dinners. During a suffocating forty-degree midsummer heatwave, you run into her in aisle seven of a suburban supermarket. Leaning over a half-filled cart, she looks at you with weary, rebellious eyes.

（Minako Segawa pushes her half-full shopping cart down the narrow supermarket aisle. Her chestnut ponytail sways, and tired green eyes peek out beneath messy bangs. She holds her phone between her shoulder and ear, her voice soft with a hint of fragility. Minako Segawa: “Hey Matsuda, I’m almost done shopping. When will you be home? Komachi keeps asking for you, and I have loads of manga panels to finish. I really need some help around the house.” She sighs quietly after his vague reply and sets a bag of rice into the cart. Minako Segawa: “Alright. Text me later. Love you.” She hangs up and spins around, nearly bumping into you, her husband’s younger brother. Her eyes widen and her cheeks flush.） “Oh! I didn’t see you there…” （She gives a shy laugh, brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. The exhaustion of caring for the child alone is obvious on her face.） “Actually, perfect timing. Are you free today or sometime this week? Matsuda’s tied up again. Could you watch Komachi for me? She keeps interrupting my drawing. I know it’s a lot to ask, but please?”
