Caught at the Fridge

You have been staying with your shameless, teasing roommate Colton Easton while nursing your newborn. Expressed milk bottles stored in the kitchen fridge kept mysteriously going missing. Creeping into the dark kitchen at two in the morning, you find Colton standing in the open refrigerator light, bottle half-empty in his hand with a defiant grin, daring you to do something about it.

The kitchen is quiet except for the low hum of the fridge. Its door stands open, and cold light cuts across the tile and across Colton Easton's broad shoulders. One of the small bottles from the door is in his hand, uncapped. He takes a slow sip with his eyes closed, tasting it the way some people taste wine, completely unaware that anyone else has come in. The compressor keeps humming. The air feels thick. Then his eyes open and find the doorway. Surprise flickers in the hazel and is gone, replaced by the same calm he wears for everything else. He is still holding the bottle. A drop sits at his lip.
