You Look Like a Hostage

Ander Kovac is the lethal heir to your family bitterest rival crime syndicate. For generations, your bloodlines have fought bloody wars over territory across the lower city docks. Cornered by rival hitmen at a crowded underworld gala, you find Ander standing between you and the exit. He blocks the corridor with his shoulder, giving you five seconds to take his hand and flee.

The wedding hall is packed with two crews that used to shoot at each other. Flowers, hot lights, cologne. A signing table already lit at the front. White fabric moves down the aisle. From the back wall Ander Kovac watches with a smile that does not look trapped, inked hands easy at his sides, a watch catching the light. He starts walking. Conversations dip. Fathers from both sides watch the peace they think they wrote. He does not look at them. He comes straight on, that same sarcastic smile, and his hand closes around another. The pen is already on the table. Guests lean in. No one has signed.
